Dinner Table Syndrome

More than 95% of Deaf children are born to hearing adults who never learn sign language. Consequently, Deaf children miss out on a great deal of incidental learning, including family health history. The phenomenon where Deaf people are perpetually left out of conversations is known as the “dinner table syndrome.”
